The night was going to be long. Tony hated having to give sounds bytes, constantly wondering how they would be twisted and used against him. He hated having to smile and pretend he wasn't thinking about better ways to run events like this, or to avoid the press either. He certainly wasn't thinking about a way to have a triggering mechanism that would operate at such a frequency that it would shatter the bulb in camera flashes when activated.
Okay so he was entirely and wholly doing that latter one as spots flashed before his eyes every time he blinked.
Making his way from one group to the next, an ever present fresh glass of wine in his hand, drinking heavily of the sharp, fruity white wine. It was definitely a different buzz but not altogether unenjoyable.
Suddednly someone else was introducing themselves and he stopped, peering at the man. Sharp suit. Dark eyes. Attractive. Formal. Yep, that would be pretty much what Mallorie said.
"Gentleman," he said to the board members trying to get his attention. "My date's arrived and you'll have to excuse me," he said, smiling brightly and nodding to Arthur. "This way," he said, moving through the crowd, grinning widely at what he'd said and done. By tomorrow Arthur's picture may not be out there, but Tony's comment would be.
